Your AUTHORIZATION TO TEST (ATT) arrives by email after your nursing regulatory body makes you eligible. It has an expiration set by that body (commonly about 90 days) and cannot be extended, so schedule promptly. Bring one valid, unexpired, government-issued photo ID with a signature; the first and last names must match your ATT exactly, or you must bring an original marriage license, divorce decree or court name-change document. Arrive at least 30 minutes early. You get a palm vein scan, a locker, and nothing goes into the room with you. Optional breaks are offered after about two hours and again after three and a half hours, and the clock keeps running during breaks. If you do not pass, you receive a Candidate Performance Report showing how you did in each content area, and you may retest after at least 45 test-free days, up to eight times a year, subject to your jurisdiction's rules.
