Potassium pump से दिया जाता है, push नहीं। लंबे असर वाली गोलियाँ साबुत निगली जाती हैं। Chest tubes खुली रहती हैं।

Potassium is pumped, not pushed. Long-acting pills are swallowed whole. Chest tubes stay open.

🧠 यह क्यों ज़रूरी है

Concentrated potassium को IV कभी PUSH न करें; यह हृदय को रोक देता है। उसे पतला करें और pump से दें। Extended-release, sustained-release या enteric-coated गोलियों को कभी CRUSH न करें (लेबल पर XL, ER, SR, EC, XR); crush करने से पूरे दिन की खुराक एक साथ निकल जाती है या वह परत नष्ट हो जाती है जो पेट या दवा की रक्षा करती है। फार्मासिस्ट से immediate-release रूप माँगें। Chest tube को नियमित रूप से कभी CLAMP न करें; फँसी हवा बढ़कर tension pneumothorax बन जाती है। अगर ट्यूबिंग अलग हो जाए तो उसका सिरा sterile पानी में डाल दें; अगर ट्यूब बाहर निकल आए तो छेद को occlusive ड्रेसिंग से ढककर तीन तरफ़ से टेप करें।

NEVER PUSH concentrated potassium IV; it stops the heart. Dilute and pump. NEVER CRUSH extended-release, sustained-release or enteric-coated tablets (XL, ER, SR, EC, XR on the label); crushing dumps a whole day's dose at once or destroys the coating that protects the stomach or the drug. Ask the pharmacist for an immediate-release form. NEVER CLAMP a chest tube routinely; trapped air builds into a tension pneumothorax. If the tubing disconnects, put the end in sterile water; if the tube comes out, cover the hole with an occlusive dressing taped on three sides.
